Update: The Broody Hen

Hi, it's Celia again!

Since I was unable to post because of my Lyme's disease, you completely missed out on the tale of the broody hen! If you missed the first post, you can read about it here.

Well, Miss Broody Hen turned out to be a cannibal. She ate the eggs that Mom put under her. So Mom put more eggs under her. She ate those, too. Hmmm. Mom decided this hen was trying to get one over on her and pulled her out of the cat carrier she was living in. No more eggs for her!

But just a few days ago another hen went broody, our little bantam silkie. Her name is Autumn. She is named after one of my best friends. A bantam is a very small chicken. Autumn sat in the nesting box for two days straight, so Mom pulled her out and put her in the cat carrier. Mom gave her 12 eggs to sit on, but Autumn couldn't cover them all. She was just too small. So Mom took out four eggs, and now Autumn has 8 eggs to hatch.

If all goes well we will have chicks on September 2!

Lyme's Disease Update

Hi! It's Celia again!

In my last post I told you about Molly, and today I am going to give you an update on my Lyme's Disease.

It's horrible! But getting better.

I have to take this pink antibiotic which tastes like badly flavored bubble gum. At first it tasted okay and I licked the spoon clean, but then it started to taste bad. Nobody likes medicine after 4 weeks.

My joints feel better, but hurt if I stand for a long time. And I still do stupid stuff, like kick myself in the head. The medicine hasn't cured that.

And I get tired very easily. I sleep a lot. I even fell asleep in church once. But it was when I had to sit through the sermon, so I kinda have an excuse.

I go back to the doctor this week, and I'm hoping he says I'm well enough to stop the medicine. That would be great.

Everything that Everybody Missed

Hi! It's Celia again!

I've been sick since the end of June with Lymes Disease. That's why I haven't written any blog posts. I want to tell you what you missed, starting with my new pony, Molly.

Molly is kinda sick, like me. I got bit by a tick, and she gets bit by bugs, too. I have to put medicine on her belly every other day. That's what the white stuff on her face is, above the noseband. I used to have to put it on her face but not anymore. Molly has trouble in her left eye and we think she was kicked there. All my friends say she looks really sad in that eye:
Most people would tell you not to get a horse with a troubled eye, but Molly is so sweet and gentle that Mom says she makes a great first horse. Except for the fact that her eye looks red you wouldn't be able to tell she has problems with her eye. She doesn't favor it at all.

Side view!

Molly is 13 hands tall and every hand is four inches so thats 13x4, which is 52 inches. And Mom says I need to work on my math skills. HAH! Molly is very smart AND she doesn't like her hooves picked up, so when I pick up her front foot she'll lean against me and stomp her back foot so she's only standing on two feet! I'll take a video for you guys sometime of her doing it.

So that's Molly. Soon we'll both be better, and hopefully we won't get bitten by anymore bugs!
